How and why does The Deli Downstairs collect personal details?

In order to make a purchase from our webshop, you will be asked to provide us with some personal information (including your name, billing and delivery address, telephone number and email address). This information is needed in order for us to fulfil your order and deal with your queries.

When you visit our website or place an order you will also be given the option to receive further information from us in the future. You can change your preferences at any time by contacting us by email, telephone or in writing. When you visit our site we automatically log your IP address, your browser type and your access times. We use this information for security purposes, to conduct site performance evaluations, to see where visitors are coming from and to keep track of which pages are viewed.

If you make a purchase from our webshop we keep a record of what you have purchased and any comments you submit with your order. When you pay online with Apple Pay or Google Pay, your data will also be shared with the relevant payment provider. Your payment details will be collected, used and stored by Apple Pay or Google Pay and we have no access to these details. All Apple Pay and Google Pay  transactions are subject to the Apple Pay and Google Pay Privacy Policy. If you choose to telephone us and give your card details over the telephone, these will be entered directly into our PCI compliant payment terminal. We do not store these details.

We may also collect other information, such as your feedback on products you have bought from us.

How does The Deli Downstairs use and store personal details?

All details collected are stored and used in accordance with the Data Protection Act (DPA) 1998 and its successor the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2018. The Deli Downstairs is the data controller of the information we collect and hold about you. Your details are only used for the purpose(s) given when collected. We do not use personal information to make automated decisions.
Unless your prior consent is explicitly given, your address, telephone number and email address are used solely to fulfil your order (which may include contacting you regarding the order). We will only disclose your personal information to third party service providers if it is required to fulfill your order. Without your consent, this information will NEVER be sold, given, rented or traded to others for any other purpose unless we are legally obliged to do so.

We may correct or supplement your address information, for example adding the Post Code, in order to ensure that your orders are delivered.

For security purposes we keep a record of access times and the IP address from which orders take place.

We take data protection seriously and make every effort to maintain the security of your data. Any information you send via our website is transmitted using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) which encrypts information you submit. It is held on a secure server with many levels of protection; physical, procedural and electronic (for example, firewalls and password protection). Our security procedures mean that we may request proof of identity before we disclose personal information to you.

How to View, Amend or Remove Personal Details

At any time you may view and amend the data we hold on you by contacting us by email or in writing. If you wish to exercise your "Right to be forgotten" under GDPR please contact us by email, or in writing, and we will remove all data about you with the exception of data that we are required to keep by law.

Why and How does The Deli Downstairs Use Cookies?

We use cookies in the webshop part of the web site to enable you to use the shopping cart. You may see a cookie message when you first visit our site. This also puts a cookie on your computer so that it knows you've seen the message and which options you chose. These cookies are essential in order for the site to function. 

We also use AddThis cookies to enable you to share pages with your friends via social media, such as facebook. The cookie we use in our online store is a session cookie containing just an ID number which identifies the visitor to the store, as separate from other visitors. No personal information is stored or tracked with these cookies. This is used in our webshop to temporarily store information, such as the contents of your shopping basket. The cookie is essential to the operation of the webshop, without it you will not be able to add items to your shopping basket. This cookie is only valid for your session and is deleted when you close your browser. It will have the name zenid and/or zenInstallID. You can turn off, or delete, cookies by following the instructions below, but will be unable to make any purchases from the webshop. You can instead place your order by telephone.

Some of our pages use AddThis (a tool for integrating various Social Media sites like Facebook, Instagram, etc) which may set a number of cookies on your computer. We use the AddThis social sharing buttons to enable you to follow us and share content with a range of sites, for example to "like" a product.. To do this we allow AddThis to collect certain anonymous information when you visit our website. AddThis may use this for behavioural advertising on other sites. If you prefer AddThis not to collect information about any of your web site visits for the purpose of delivering targeted advertising, you may use the AddThis global opt out feature. Disabling the AddThis features will remove the social sharing parts of this site, but no other functionality will be affected and you can continue to use our site.
